About Motherland University

Motherland University is a support platform created for Nigerian students studying abroad. We provide scholarships, emergency student relief, advisory support, and access to opportunities designed to help students in the diaspora succeed academically and professionally.

Our mission is simple: Nigerian students abroad are one of our greatest assets, and they deserve structured support, not isolation.

Currently, our core programs include:

Eligibility

You may apply if you are:

  • A Nigerian student studying abroad
  • Currently enrolled in a recognized undergraduate, postgraduate, vocational, or professional education program
  • In need of financial support, emergency assistance, or scholarship opportunities

Specific eligibility may vary depending on the program.

For some programs, yes.

Applications may begin without banking verification, but selected applicants will be required to provide proof of a FirstBank Diaspora Account before final scholarship disbursement or program approval.

This helps support secure and verified processing.

Yes. If you qualify for both programs, you may submit separate applications for each. Scholarship applications and Student Relief applications are reviewed independently.

Applying

Yes. There is no fee required to apply for any Motherland University program.

Please be cautious of anyone requesting payment for access, fast-tracking, or guaranteed approval.

No. Submitting an application does not guarantee selection, approval, or funding. Applications are reviewed based on eligibility, need, available funding, partner requirements, and overall program priorities.

Depending on the program, you may be asked to provide:

  • Proof of Nigerian identity or nationality
  • Proof of enrollment in your institution
  • Student ID or admission documentation
  • Personal statement or short essay
  • Financial hardship documentation (for relief applications)
  • FirstBank Diaspora Account verification where required

Requirements may vary by application type.

Review timelines vary depending on the application cycle and program type.

Applicants will receive updates by email regarding the next steps, additional document requests, or final decisions.

We encourage applicants to apply early.

Yes. Not being selected in one cycle does not prevent you from applying again in future application rounds, provided you still meet the eligibility requirements.

Student Relief may support situations such as:

  • Unexpected financial hardship
  • Critical academic continuation needs

Each case is reviewed individually.
